Musical legend of all sorts, Luciano Pavarotti, lost his battle to pancreatic cancer this morning at the age of 71 years. He passed away in his home of Modena, Italy around 5am. His manager issued the following statement:

“The great tenor Luciano Pavarotti died today at 5:00 a.m. at his home in Modena, the city of his birth. The Maestro fought a long, tough battle against the pancreatic cancer which eventually took his life. In fitting with the approach that characterized his life and work, he remained positive until finally succumbing to the last stages of his illness.”

What a sad what to start the day. Our thoughts and warmest wishes go out to his family in this sad time. He will be missed! Rest in peace! (I guess we can think of it this way: he’s not in any pain anymore, so that’s a happy thing.)
