Jessica Seinfeld Copies People

Jerry Seinfeld’s wife, Jessica Seinfeld, wrote a cookbook called “Deceptively Delicious” and the book features ways to sneak a little bit of healthy into children’s old favorites. The book hit the national bestseller list, thanks to Oprah plugging it on her show, but now there’s controversy, of course.

All of the recipes in Jessica’s book are quite similar to those found in a cookbook titled “The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids’ Favorite Meals” by Missy Chase Lapine. It seems that while Jessica went on Oprah and made spinach brownies, Miss Chase Lapine had already been on the Today show sometime before and created the same treat. Coincidence? Probably not and, according to Lapine’s publisher, we will find out what action she is taking within a couple of days. Jessica’s publisher says that all of Jessica’s recipes were original. Yeah right!

Other similar recipes between the two cookbooks are sweet potato grilled cheese, bean puree macaroni and cheese, and cheese and caulifower mashed potatoes. Too many weird things to be a coincidence if you ask me. Jessica is the new version of that fraud guy who wrote that fake book and duped Oprah. Here comes the drama!

  1. Oh Please! She so copied that book! Aren’t they rich enough that they have to copy other people’s recipies? Sad!

  2. THIS IS A HUGE DEAL!

Point #1 – Ms. Lapine showed her book to HarperCollins (Ms. Seinfeld’s publisher) 6 months before Ms. Seinfeld. Ms. Lapine’s publisher had already asked Ms. Seinfeld’s publisher change the book cover (which easily resembled Ms. Lapine’s book cover, a chef winking with carrots nearby).

Point #2 – Ms. Seinfeld has the same agent from the William Morris Agency as the Harvard sophomore student who recently lost her book contract for copying another’s novel.

    Coincidence? You be the judge!

  3. TWO books which are:

    both cookbooks
    shown to the same publisher
    in the same year
    with the same UNIQUE recipes
on the same UNIQUE cooking concept
by authors who live in the same city
    with nearly IDENTICAL book covers
    both pitched to OPRAH

IS JUST A COINCIDENCE. No way, I smell a rat!
