All set to play the role of the ex-wife in My Best Friend’s Girl, a new CBS pilot, Jennie Garth has abruptly left the project — giving rise to speculation that she’ll instead head back into her Kelly Taylor Beverly Hills, 90210 guise for the spinoff under development for the CW network, says the Hollywood Reporter.

Garth, 36, also has been dealing with the loss of her father, who died after she landed the role in My Best Friend’s Girl. She’ll be replaced by Canadian actress Kristin Booth.

As for 90210, the trade paper says the Taylor character could conceivably return to her alma mater as a teacher of fashion design — a long leap for the one-time spoiled brat of the old series.
