Who knew that these stupid celebrity shows had so much cash going into them? Well, it makes sense that we’d spend all this money on a celebrity awards show but when Christmas time comes around, none of the businesses have enough to donate to churches or Salvation Army. Funny how the world works, isn’t it? (I’m totally the Grinch today, I’m bloated and sore!) Now that the Golden Globes are canceled,  the Los Angeles economy is out of a lot of money, though, and that really sucks. But thats sort of what strikes are all about, isn’t it?

The cancellation of the Golden Globes awards show is set to cost the Los Angeles economy an estimated $100m.

The Globes has been put on ice because of the on-going writers strike in Hollywood, and stars unwilling to cross the picket lines.

A string of glitzy showbiz parties and limousine reservations have now been canceled, and restaurants are bracing themselves for scores of empty tables, the New York Post reports. “It’s a major disaster and everybody is going to feel it,” one Hollywood insider told the Post.

“Take limo services, for example. They routinely charge $1,000 or more for a day’s service. There are hundreds and hundreds of cars that won’t be going anywhere now.”

I just hope the strike is over soon because only having American Gladiators to watch on NBC is getting pretty lame. I know there’s only been one episode but it was extra lame. Speaking of lame, could Hulk Hogan be more lame? He’s a shitty host and so is Layla Ali. I think they should have Britney and Criss Crocker host. Now that would be entertaining!

Edit: Yes, that’s a picture of Ali Larter. She’s wayy better to look at than an actual Golden Globe statue. But she’s at the 2007 Golden Globes so that’s pretty much the best picture choice, I think.
