Shape Magazine is all about leading a healthy lifestyle, and basing that lifestyle on the right foods, a good work-out, and so forth. I have purchased a few issues of Shape Magazine in the past, and I’ve always liked everything they’ve done.
And now Kelly Ripa is on the cover and the title is “The Kelly Ripa Workout: She shows us the 6 moves that got her THIS body,” and I think it’s a total sell-out to what the magazine is about.
Okay, let me just say, before I continue with my argument, that I’m sure Kelly Ripa runs on the treadmill, does the stairmaster at the gym, or whatever. I’m not saying she probably doesn’t do a cario workout.
Here’s what I am saying, though. Kelly Ripa is unusually small and only seems to be getting thinner. She has been in the news about her weight before and now Shape is using her as a poster-child for health? It’s so silly.
Kelly said on Live! With Regis & Kelly that the magazine photoshopped out her outtie belly button. To me, it looks like they photoshopped weight onto her. They made her look muscular and not just rail thin.
I think it’s a complete joke to have her on the cover. “The Kelly Ripa Workout” in reality is probably 9 cups of coffee a day, some fruit, and lots of obnoxius laughing. I doubt she treats her body with the needed meals-a-day and I really don’t think someone who is 5’2″ and 90 lbs represents reality for most women. If anything, putting her on the front is more of a misconception. I think it’s stupid! Put someone on there that’s real. I’m not saying you have to put a chub on there, but at least put someone who is healthy and at least looks healthy. Someone who doesn’t have to have “healthy” photoshopped onto her body.
