Golden Globes Still On

The welcome mat is out for George Clooney, Keira Knightley and Julia Roberts – as well as the other Golden Globe nominees.

NBC says that the Jan. 13 ceremony will proceed as planned, despite the threat of picketing from the striking Writers Guild of America and stars boycotting the event as a show of support, reports USA Today.

Fears of nominees turning into no-shows had caused some talk of possibly canceling the broadcast or, at a minimum, severely damaging the ratings of the telecast.

On Friday, The New York Times ran a story casting doubt on the possibility of the Globes’ proceeding as originally planned.

The paper quoted Jeff Hermanson, strike coordinator for the Writers Guild of American West and the Writers Guild of America East, as positioning protestors around the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where the ceremony will take place.

“If the Globes is telecast and it is produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is a struck company, we will picket the show,” he said.

Jorge Camara, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group behind the Globes, reportedly vowed that the 65th annual ceremony will go on, as intended.

Six weeks after the Globes come the Oscars, on Feb. 24. The star power of the first event is expected to serve as a gauge for the second.

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts in Entertainment Weekly 12/21/07

While getting ready to do this post I realized I’ve NEVER written about Tom Hanks before! Probably because he’s so low-key but I Love, Love, Love him! He is one of the best actors (if not THE best) and my favorite actor in the whole world! I’ve seen all of his movies–in fact, I’m pretty sure I own them all–even Joe Versus The Volcano! I find him very fascinating and, even though Julia Roberts is weird and on my bad side, I am going to see his new movie Charlie Wilson’s War. I hope Julia Roberts doesn’t ruin it because Tom Hanks is awesome!

Here is Tom Hanks with Julia Roberts (they are co-stars in their new movie Charlie Wilson’s War) on the cover of Entertainment Weekly for the December 21, 2007 issue. I wonder how photoshopped they are? Tom looks pretty normal but Julia’s face looks way smooth. What I wouldn’t give to see the “before” of this cover!

The Highest Paid Actresses in Hollywood

The Hollywood Reporter has released a list of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood and I’ve got to say that I’m pretty surprised. I think half of the ladies on the list aren’t good actresses and that they make crappy movies. But I guess that doesn’t change their paycheck, does it? Here’s the list:

1. Reese Witherspoon – $15 to $20 million per pic
2. Angelina Jolie – $15 to $20 million (made only $8 million for Beowulf)
3. Cameron Diaz – $15 million
4. Nicole Kidman – $10 to $15 million
5. Renee Zellweger – $10 to $15 million
6. Sandra Bullock – $10 to $15 million
7. Julia Roberts – $10 to $15 million
8. Drew Barrymore – $10 to $12 million
9. Jodie Foster – $10 to $12 million
10. Halle Berry – $10 million

Don’t get me wrong, I love Reese Witherspoon but I can’t believe she makes that much. It’s a little bonkers. And Jodie Foster?! When is the last time she made a movie? Halle Berry has been making shitty movies since she won an Oscar and Drew Barrymore has a bad track record, too. I can’t believe these ladies make so much and some are so undeserving. I’m jealous, though, nonetheless!

Julia Roberts Doesn’t Like Angelina Jolie

According to Star Magazine, actress Julia Roberts doesn’t like Angelina Jolie. See, Julia’s husband, Danny Moder, worked on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and went home to Julia and reported that Angelina was flirting with Brad, putting down her A game. I guess Julia owns the high moral ground and was pissed off that Angie was swooping on another woman’s man (even though, let’s remember, Julia met Danny when he was with another woman).

“Danny told her it was obvious that Angelina was making a play for Brad. People on the set called her the Spider-Woman because she was spinning a web for Brad.  Julia said Angelina had no shame. She’s made it pretty clear that she doesn’t hold Angie in high regard.”

I don’t hold Angie in high regard either but I also dislike Julia Roberts so it’s a tie for me. They’re both powerful women who use money and sex appeal to get what they want. The only reason Julia was pissed is because she already has her man so she’s forgotten the way she got him.  They’re both just as bad as each other!

But wait, it gets better. Apparently Julia held a screening party at her home to show the film A Mighty Heart starring Angelina Jolie. She told her friends that not only does she think Angie didn’t do a good job but she thought she, herself, would make a better Marianne Pearl. Burn! I think they probably both suck as Marianne Pearl and that a black lady should have been Marianne. Stop giving these good roles to overpaid white actresses with no talent! Amen.

Julia Roberts is the American Cinematheque

Its odd to see Julia Roberts in the news cause she’s so out of the Hollywood loop now. After that whole Erin Brockovich thing died down, she pretty much went into hiding. I mean, the last thing I saw her in was Ocean’s Twelve and that was probably the stupidest crap I’ve ever seen. Seriously. It’s like they just quickly wrote up a script so the famous people could hang out and get paid. Dumb! I also just watched Pretty Woman, probably the only Julia Roberts movie that I actually like. After all these years of making movies, though, I guess someone said its time to give her an honorary award. She was named the American Cinematheque and a party was given for her at the Beverly Hilton. Co-stars and other celebrity friends showed up for the event, like Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, and Natalie Portman. Here’s what Tom Hanks had to say about Julia:

“Knowledge that no matter how good of shape you are in, no matter how good of a haircut you are sporting, Julia Roberts is, at the end of the day, going home to a husband way better looking than you will ever be.”

Um, is he looking at the same Danny Moder that I’m looking at because I definitely don’t see him as cute! Hell, he’s not even a hot mess, or a sloppy mess, and even then that would be a stretch! Oh, well, he’s trying to make non-celebrity Danny feel cool in a room full of famous people. Nice gesture, I guess. Here’s what Julia said when receiving her award:

“More than anything I am just the most proud wife and mother to three of the most amazing children,” she said Friday night at an event in her honor. “And the widening of my life, and my hips, is really just the true gift of my husband Danny (Moder), who I would be so lonely without.”

It seems like she is really embracing motherhood and that she still, really loves Danny. Remember what I said last week about not being able to forgive home wreckers for a long, long time? I’m still pissed at Julia. But congratulations to her on the award and everything. Really cool. (Can you sense my sarcasm?)

Julia Roberts Gives Birth to 3rd Child

Julia Roberts, who was once the most desired and highest paid actress in Hollywood, gave birth to her third child in Los Angeles today. Roberts, who has two other children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, gave birth to a son today and named him Henry Daniel Moder.

If you’re wondering about the last night, I am too. I had to Google “Moder” to refresh my memory that Julia is married to that camera-guy Danny Moder.

Then I remembered not only is she married to this guy, but they also hooked up while Danny was married. Surprise, surprise.

A powerful woman in Hollywood ruins her standing as an honorable role model by being a homewrecker. I wonder if Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Kristy Swanson, Tori Spelling, and Paris Hilton have parties where they get together and laugh about how great they are and how fun it is to be rich, famous, successful, and to be able to have whoever you want… even if he is married.

Ahh, what a life.

Congratulations to Julia on her new son, anyway.
